240th Quartermaster Company Constituted 22 April 1943 in the Army of the United States as the 240th Quartermaster Depot Company Activated 25 May 1943 at Vancouver Barracks, Washington Inactivated 3 August 1946 in GermanyRedesignated 23 April 1948 as the 240th Quartermaster Base Depot Company and allotted to the Organized Reserve Corps Activated 11 May 1948 at Atlanta, Georgia Ordered into active military service 21 September 1950 at Atlanta, Georgia (Organized Reserve Corps redesignated 9 July 1952 as the Army Reserve) Reorganized and redesignated as 20 October 1953 as the 240th Quartermaster Company Released 1 February 1955 from active military service and reverted to reserve status Inactivated 1 October 1955 at Atlanta, Georgia Redesignated 7 February 1967 as the 240th Supply and Service Company; concurrently withdrawn from the Army Reserve and allotted to the Regular Army Activated 25 March 1967 at Fort Knox, Kentucky Inactivated 18 December 1967 at Fort Knox, Kentucky Activated 21 December 1972 in Germany Redesigated 16 May 1991 as the 240th Quartermaster Company CAMPAIGN PARTICIPATION CREDIT World War II - European, Africa & Middle East Theater Southwest Asia DECORATIONS Meritorious Unit Commendation (Army), Streamer embroidered FRANCE Meritorious Unit Commendation (Army), Streamer embroidered SOUTHWEST ASIA Army Superior Unit Award, 15 Oct 95 - 9 Nov 96 This company also deployed soldiers in support of Operation Restore Hope-Somalia and Rwanda 1994; Operation Joint Endeavor-Bosnia 1995-96.
