373D QUARTERMASTER BATTALION

DISTINCTIVE UNIT INSIGNIA. Description: A gold color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned: Celeste, a mailed dexter fist Sable garnished Or, grasping four lightning flashes of the last. Attached below the shield is a light blue scroll inscribed "LIGHTNING CARRIERS" in gold.

Symbolism: Buff/gold and light blue are the colors traditionally used by Quartermaster units. The four lightning flashes symbolize the unit’s campaigns, while the mailed fist represents total military preparedness. Together they suggest the unit’s motto "Lightning Carriers".

Background: The distinctive unit insignia was authorized on 15 Aug 1997.

Shield: Celeste, a mailed dexter fist issuing from base Proper, grasping four lightning flashes in saltire Buff.

Crest: That for the regiments and separate battalions of the Army Reserve: From a wreath Argent and Celeste, the Lexington Minute Man Proper. The statue of the Minute Man, Captain John Parker (H.H. Kitson, sculptor), stands on the common in Lexington, Massachusetts.

Motto: LIGHTNING CARRIERS.
