5th QUARTERMASTER DETACHMENT Constituted 13 August 1943 in the Army of the United States as the 929th Quartermaster Petroleum Products Laboratory. Activated 14 August 1943 at Camp Lee, Virginia. Inactivated 20 December 1946 at Tokyo, Japan. Allotted 23 February 1949 to the Regular Army. Activated 31 May 1949 at Camp Lee, Virginia. Reorganized and redesignated 24 January 1955 as the 5th Quartermaster Detachment. Inactivated 24 June 1960 in Korea. Activated 3 August 1962 at Fort Lee, Virginia. Inactivated 31 March 1972 in Vietnam. Activated 1 June 1975 in Germany.
