Colonel David H. Wayne is known to the
Quartermaster Corps as a consummate mentor,
Asia
specialist, and petroleum expert. Beginning with
his graduation from the Quartermaster Officer Basic Course in 1968, Colonel
Wayne has served in a variety of petroleum operations and support units
beginning as the operations officer of the U.S. Army Petroleum Depot,
Japan. While
serving in Vietnam, he served as the Commander, Headquarters and
Headquarters Company, 1st Supply & Services Battalion, 1st
Cavalry Division. Other commands
included Commander, 7th
Supply and Transport Battalion, 7th Infantry Division, and from 1991
to 1993, Colonel Wayne commanded the U.S. Army Natick Research Development and
Engineering
Center, Natick, Massachusetts.
Key staff assignments included Division G-4,
7th Infantry Division, Petroleum Plans Officer, Rapid
Deployment Joint Task Force, Southwest Asia Plans Officer, DCSLOG, Joint Petroleum
Officer, CENTCOM during Operation Desert Shield/ Storm, and Director, Asia-Pacific and the Americas, U.S. Army Security Assistance Command.
Since his retirement in 1998, Colonel Wayne serves as a consultant to
U.S.and European defense suppliers.
