Information on the Subsistence Directorate, which annually
buys more than $1.1 billion worth of food products for all branches of the arned forces
worldwide. It supplies a variety of operational rations, including meals, ready-to-eat;
kosher/halal rations for religious dietary considerations; and the new humanitarian daily
ration a vegetarian meal used in emergency relief efforts.
