President's Message

Message from the President:

All in all we've had a very successful year.  The new entrance addition is almost complete, the Educational Outreach Program is a phenomenal success, the Annual Dinner was impressive and professional, and we had the best golf tournament in years.

Work began on the entrance in December, but we have experienced numerous delays.  Although we were using the firm under contract to the Post, we were sometimes submerged by the massive BRAC construction programs at Fort Lee .  However, despite the delays, the entrance way will soon be completed and is a distinct asset to our Museum.

Mrs. McColley has done a magnificent job on the Educational Outreach Program.  Her efforts along with those of her volunteers have put this program on the map.  Thanks to the efforts of COL (Ret) Karl Rush our Vice-President, we've received a second grant from the Cameron Foundation so that we'll be fully funded through the next year.  A lot of effort by a number of Board members resulted in a big pay off.

Our Annual Dinner was held in conjunction with the Quartermaster Generals Annual Warfighters Symposium.  Some very deserving Quartermasters were inducted into the Hall of Fame and as Distinguished Members of the Regiment.  We on the Board were particularly pleased that two of our members, Mrs. Carolyn Whipp and Mr. Charles (Chuck) Lundy were recognized for their outstanding service to the Corps and inducted as Distinguished Members of the Regiment.  Mr. Bill Rose of Rose Packing was presented with the Distinguished Order of St Martin by General Cross and Mrs. Kim Hodder, wife of Board member, Colonel (Ret) Clint Hodder received the Catharine Greene Award.

Chuck Lundy did a great job with the Golf Tournament. His article provides the details.  What it doesn't cover is all the organizational work.  He did make it a success.

For all the effort that led to this year's success, credit goes to the following Board members and friends:

                       Nancy Bain                           Shirley Barrett

                        Clint Hodder                          Karl Rush
